tips for those looking for
accommodation |
safety
first... |
before you go to view a property, ensure that you have the
full name and contact details of the person who you are going to meet - find out as much
as you can - make sure that you know who you are dealing with. |
tell a friend or family member where you are going and when
they can expect you back. |
if at all possible, take someone with you when you go to view
the property |
always remember to practise caution and to be careful. |
money
matters... |
living in London can be expensive. whether you are renting a
flat or house, or sharing, the first month is bound to make a huge dent in your savings. |
most landlords will ask you to pay a deposit. this deposit can
range from anything from the equivalent of two weeks' rent, up to six weeks'
rent! |
prices are usually quoted by the week. to calculate the price
per month, multiply the weekly price by 52 and the divide the result by 12. e.g.
(70 pw * 52) = 3640, (3640/12) = 303 per month |
you may also be asked to pay connection fees for the
electricity, gas, telephone and cable TV. find out from the person who you are dealing
with whether the quoted price includes these fees or not - they can all add up! |
here at freeflats.com we provide a free forum for you to
advertise your property and to search for accommodation. |
estate agents and accommodation agencies may also use this
website and they may charge you a fee for their services. please ensure that you know
exactly what their charges are before you agree to view a property that they have
advertised. |
remember, accommodation agencies are not allowed to charge you
to see a list of their properties. |
finally, before you sign anything, make sure that you know
exactly how much you will be asked to pay and that you understand the breakdown of the
required amount. |
availability...
accommodation in London is not only expensive, it is also very
fast moving. at freeflats.com you will see only the latest advertisements. |
before you view a property it is probably wise to phone the
landlord or the person that you are meeting, just to make sure that it hasn't gone in
the mean time. that may save you a lot of time! |

tips for advertisers |
before you advertise on our site, we will ask you for some
details and that you provide us with an email address. we will then send you an email
back, and you have to follow the simple instructions contained therein to validate your
registration. this is just to verify that you are a real person! |
once you have registered with us, you can place as many ads as
you like, and you can update or delete your own ads. your advertisement will eventually expire
- if you still haven't found a suitable person by , you can renew it. |
use the description to say as much as you can about the
property that you are advertising. this is what people will read and persuade them to
contact you. if you find that a lot of people are viewing your ad, but you are not getting
any calls, you can update the details. |
to change the details, go to the members' area, enter
your email address and password, and you will see a list of your ads. from here, you can
easily update your details. |
when you have found a suitable person for your property, you
can go to the members' area and delete it. that means that you won't be getting
any more unnecessary calls. |
